What does catnip do to cats
Catnip has been referred to as the ‘cat’s marijuana’ and in a way, it is just that. It is a plant from the mint family and it has a few possible effects. If your cat eats it, it acts as a sedative. But if your cat only smells it, it act as a stimulant. Effects may vary from cat to cat. One cat can become extra playful, while the other very chill and mellow. It’s effect lasts for a good 10-15 minutes so give your kitty some catnip, grab some popcorn and enjoy.
Note: Only around 50% of cats are affected by catnip so your kitty might not react to it at all.
Another note: Catnip is neither dangerous nor addictive so have no fear.
